Our client, a global animation, film, and interactive company that offers film and immersive work for advertising and branded content as well as developing original IP in entertainment and digital products is looking to grow their Los Angeles, California office.
 
Based in the Arts District, Downtown, the new office is led by Executive Producers who oversee the output across AR, VR, web, apps and live experiences, along with a studio team that consists of production, creative, animators, illustrators, designers, and developers.
 
The team is looking to add a Technical Director to help oversee real-time and in-game engine projects. You’ll be reporting to the Head of Interactive Arts  & Executive Producer, and you will spend roughly half the time technically hands-on, and the other half on designing, coaching and planning with the leadership team, engineers and potential clients.

What you’ll be doing:
 
  • Developing C++ libraries and APIs, with daily code submissions, delivering projects in short time frames, multi-tasking, and collaborating with team members
  • Projects may also include technical development such as shading, rendering, and other graphics functionality, and optimizing existing pipelines and assets
  • Troubleshoot various in-engine technical difficulties with shaders, lights, and rendering.
  • Regularly interface with 3D leads, Creative Directors and founders across both LA and UK studio
  • Coordinate with internal and external development teams, create relationships and assist with shared initiatives
  • Design systems & applications that deliver business functions or architectural components
  • Research to acquire new knowledge necessary to perform assigned tasks
  • Oversee and build out a team that you will be leading through projects
 
What you bring:
  • 8+ years experience in a similar role
  • Strong background of C, C++, or C#
  • Experience working with game engines (preferably Unity3D)
  • Experience in immersive tech (AR/VR/MR)
  • Experience in 3D, rigging, animation, modelling, and shader technology
