We are seeking an Engineering Manager for our client, a remote-first startup based in Austin, TX. They are a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) that simplifies the engineering process, workflows and infrastructure through containerization in an extremely secure cloud environment. The goal is to make any engineering team's remote and local development indistinguishable, providing all the benefits of the Cloud without having to give up the tools they use daily. This is the most forward thinking and ground breaking technology to support developers.

What you will do: 
  • This role is responsible for building and coordinating a team of engineers (frontend, fullstack and backend) maintaining morale and transparency in a remote work environment
  • Help the team grow and maintain the company’s core culture of building the best products for developers
  • Hire great engineers, create mentorships and growth opportunities for engineers and conduct performance reviews  
  • Prioritize projects, remove barriers and establish processes to ensure you’re making the best use of the team’s time and resources to move the company forward
  • Work closely with Product Management on the roadmap 
  • Improve the speed, stability and predictability of product support
What you bring:
  • 6-10 years of experience in an engineering environment with deep understanding of computer science and programming
  • 2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager with solid track record of growing people and teams
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience working as a Software Engineer with experience and passion coding in open source technologies (preferably Typescript and Golang) and keeps up with new technology trends
  • Experience in a high growth startup
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Experience making good decisions around prioritization and using data-informed judgment to weigh options 
  • Degree in Computer Science is preferred
  • Must be able to thrive in chaos and enjoys solving problems
